On May, 1-8st 2011 the annual regatta «Cherkassy Cup 2011» has taken place. So has historically developed that with rare exception, this regatta passes under favorable weather conditions, in the form of a moderate wind and warm weather. Last year was such pleasant exception, but this year all has fallen into place: a wind and waves have prepared new tests for participants and their catamarans, the sun not strongly indulged in the warm days though as a whole was a sin to complain of weather - happened and is worse.
From more, than 30 declared crews, on water left only 25 catamarans. It is a pity that practically half of declared boats in a class Ducky17, for various reasons, couldn't take part in competitions. But also 5 arrived crews have created enough intense competition in a class. It is conventional that competitions in a monotype the most interesting, clear and correct, both for participants, and for spectators. Any handicap never can equal chances of initially different boats.
It is pleasant that in our numbers there are new people and new boats. I will dare to remind obvious things, at competitions in a class: the maximum chances of a victory have crews consisting of 2 persons and the boats completed ãåííàêåðíûì with arms, after all excess weight doesn't add speed, and alternatives of efficiency ãåííàêåðà on complete courses isn't observed yet unless them can be not one and the several.
The traditional route of a regatta, this year, has a little changed: at the expense of longer day transitions, the fleet could will go down even more low on a current, to an island Vorontsovsky, instead of as usual – to an island of Zhovnino.
As a whole, competitions have passed successfully. All catamarans of Ducky, including new crews, have passed a distance without breakages and ïðîèøåñòâèé, thereby once again having confirmed the reliability, despite rigid weather conditions when much more skilled crews of other catamarans, by turns, descended from a distance. On what of all also it is congratulated! I hope that everyone has received a fresh portion of emotions and impressions, actually, for which has arrived on these competitions!
Separate thanks would be desirable to tell to organizers of this regatta, after all the organization occupies much, first of all, human resources, it is huge work! The base, to the further development of a regatta, is put more than thorough, time and a place are picked up very successfully and it would be desirable, that the following regatta was even better, than previous!
And, at last, we congratulate winners in a class "Ducky17" - crew of a catamaran "Polar fox", Zaycev Nikolay and Starzhinsky Anton.
